Value-added measures are based on learning growth and used by schooling systems to indicate the contribution that a school makes to student learning, over and above the contribution made by the average school.

CESE has developed a set of value-added measures for NSW government schools that adjust for factors outside the control of schools, such as students' Socio-Economic Status (SES). This publication provides an introduction to the measures, including their use, interpretation, and what they tell us about the factors influencing student outcomes.
